We believe the right opportunity has the power to change a woman’s life, and the lives around her. We know brighter, happier, self-sustaining futures are possible for women at risk.
Who we are
We empower women through skill training, psychosocial support and job placement programs.
By 2020, we will be Nicaragua's most recognized NGO serving women.
In Nicaragua, current government and civil society schemes for delivering the skills required for entrepreneurship and employability are inaccessible and are not contextualised for young women in poor communities. Local, regional and national environments are not conducive to supporting the formal employment of young people and women-run businesses, and the participation of key stakeholders in support of entrepreneurship and youth employment is limited due to a multiplicity of factors.
Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America an second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. 59% of those in poverty reside in double cities, like the capital Managua.
60% of abused women in Nicaragua are women who have limited participation in activities outside the home.
46% of women today in Nicaragua, 18 and over, did not attend secondary school. That is almost half of the women of working age today, that lack the skills and opportunities to secure jobs. With no formal job, they remain in cycles of poverty.
