Sisters Esperanza and Lily Canul and their sister-in-law Delmi Canul are the founders of Sarteneja Beach Trap Pesca Tour Association, which has been in operation since 2018. A business made up of 26 members, inhabitants of the Sarteneja fishing village, in the country of Belize.

“The association was formed when the owners of the beach traps joined forces to create an alternative way of life, the idea is that we not only depend on commercial fishing but also we can give the tour service to tourists who want to experience the way like traditional fishermen take fish out of their traps every day ”says Lily Canul.

Due to the pandemic, they had to stop the tours, but they survive from the artisanal fishing and commercialization of different maritime species such as: chiwa, beaked, snapper, mojarra, crab, jurrel, snook, mullet, salted fish and shredded fish.
